Bach Flower Advice

What is the difference with homeopathy?

Bach Flower therapy and homeopathy have certain similarities but also have some important differences.

It is good to know that Dr. Edward Bach, before he discovered Bach Flower therapy, also studied homeopathy. When he went looking for a softer method of treatment for everyone, he found Hahnemann’s work, the founder of homeopathy. Bach studied homeopathy very intensely and for a while he applied it into his practise. Dr. Bach has discovered a few nosodes himself, which up until today are still used and called the Bach nosodes.

One of the similarities between homeopathy and Bach Flower therapy is that both use the principle of dilution to make their extracts. In homeopathy they use a stronger dilution than Bach Flower therapy. The way of dilution is also different. Bach Flower therapy doesn’t potentize; this means shaking the bottle between every potency.

Bach Flower therapy only uses flowers from unharmful plants, shrubs and trees. As opposed to homeopathy which uses plants minerals and animal substances to make homeopathic medicines.

Bach Flower therapy allows you to drink and eat anything you want, no need to avoid coffee, tea, mint or any other specific substances.

Bach Flower therapy can be given to babies and pregnant women without any risk. They are completely harmless even in high dosage. Homeopathic medicines with high potency have a strong effect and can therefore not be given without advice to babies and children. Certain products are forbidden to pregnant women.

Bach Flower therapy only focuses on the emotional and mental well being of the person. To bring back the emotions into balance can have an effect on a person’s physical health but it is not a diagnostic criteria. Homeopathy however focuses on the physical health of the person but they do use the mental aspect as well to diagnose. But the main focus is on the physical symptoms to determine the diagnose.

Both alternative therapies can be used perfectly alongside each other as one treatment. Bach Flower therapy focuses on the emotional aspect and the other on the physical aspect. Both are strong in their field of expertise and the synergy gives very good results.
